NEWS IBM and Oracle have set up their first joint pre-sales centre. The Joint Solution Centre in Montpellier, France, will advise enterprise customers who want to run Oracle ERP software on IBM servers. Staff at the centre will offer personal demonstrations of working systems. They will also advise visitors on benchmarks, installation, customisation and architectural support, before or after purchase. IBM spokesman, Cary Ziter, said: "This is a new component to our sales and marketing model. As far as I know, no other partners are joining forces in this way." The centre, which opened for business on 17 June, will initially cover the whole of Europe. "Montpellier was the obvious choice for the first centre, because IBM already has a high-end manufacturing and assembly facility there," Ziter explained.
If it is successful, the company will consider opening centres in other European countries.
