In brief: Virginia hosts World Trade Congress on IT

NEWS The eleventh World Trade Congress on IT will start this Sunday in Virginia, USA. The three day summit is intended to get international firms talking about the use of technology within and between their companies, according to organisers World IT and Services Alliances (WITSA). Speakers will include AT&T president and CEO David Nagel, Netscape president and CEO Jim Barksdale, and Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, as well as Mikhail Gorbachev. The Computer Services and Software Association (CSSA) is representing the UK at the conference. Vikki Jones, a spokeswoman on industry issues at the CSSA said: "We have been promoting it to our members as an excellent networking opportunity. Ecommerce is a particular focus this year and both our director general and president have gone over to the US."
