NEWS Sun Microsystems and Novell have teamed up to develop and promote NetWare as the fastest Java Virtual Machine (JVM). The firms claim the relationship will ensure complete support for Sun's Java technology standards within the NetWare virtual machine. Peter Joseph, corporate strategist at Novell, said the company's aim is to "create the fastest JVM". He said tests conducted using the Volano benchmark system found NetWare 5 to be "two-and-a-half times faster than any other system, so many applications using Java will run faster on a NetWare platform".
