NEWS Intelligent software agents will turn online commerce into a boom and bust economy, according to research from IBM. Jeffrey Kephart, who headed the study at IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Centre, said that intelligent agents were programmed by consumers to search for products on the Internet by price alone. Kephart said this would lead to immense swings in the market, as online retailers fought for customers in price wars.
