In brief: Rockwell puts restructuring plans into action

NEWS Rockwell International is expected to announce widespread changes to its automation business, following the separation from its semiconductor division last week. The company will cut its product line, which currently offers 500,000 items, and reshuffle is board members. Senior vice president, David Pugh, left the company last week and more executives are expected to follow. About 3,000 of the automation group's 27,000 employees will be laid off, while company job loses over all have been put at 9 per cent. Rockwell's CEO, Don Davis, will oversee the recently formed $1bn (£0.6bn) per year motor and mechanical transmission division within the automation business.
