NEWS Software specifically designed for pharmacies using Windows NT has been launched by Pro Choice Applications (PCA). The software, called Pharmacy, dispenses drugs, reorders stock automatically and advises pharmacists on poor drug combinations. Joan Forrester at beta users Ranmoor Pharmacy in Cheshire, England, said: "Our contract with the Pharmaceutical Association now says that we must talk to people and advise them directly. Pharmacy means we can spend less time sticking on labels." Future changes in pharmacists' contracts will also be covered. "It will soon be compulsory to do continual training," added Forrester. "PCA Pharmacy is going to incorporate multimedia software to do this." Pharmacy, which launched earlier this month, is based on a graphical interface with multitasking facilities. It costs around £125 per month for four years.
