NEWS IBM is to expand its call centre facilities in Greenock, Scotland, creating 500 jobs over the next 18 months. The European direct marketing centre will be located alongside Big Blue's technical support facility. It will cost £11.5m and will be staffed by multilingual agents. An IBM spokewoman said: "Our original call centre employs technical graduates with language skills, but for the new centre, we're looking more for languages along with a pleasant manner." The new facility will handle calls from 13 European countries, and offer a general enquiry service in addition to marketing information.
