NEWS Sun Microsystems has signed up over 30 partners for its Jini development programme. The Java software is designed to run in peripherals to allow them to automatically 'introduce' themselves to a network when plugged in. Partners include Novell, Ericsson and Computer Associates. The intention, according to Jay Huff, director of advanced technology at Computer Associates, is to create IT devices that work like phones - you just plug them in.
