In brief: Java group targets PC makers

NEWS The Java Lobby - a US-based pressure group - has launched a campaign in support of JavaReady PCs. The group wants PC manufacturers to produce machines with Java Realtime Environment (JRE) and Java plug-ins pre-installed. The initial focus is on PCs running Windows, given the group's concerns that Microsoft's version of Java is inadequate. More information about the petition can be found at www.javalobby.com.
