NEWS Speculation is growing about the imminent launch of Drugstore.com. The online chemist has been planned since last year and former Microsoft executive Peter Neupert is expected to head up the venture. Although Drugstore will offer most products found in local chemists, government regulations mean it will not be allowed to sell prescription drugs. The online store has the backing of Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers. Kleiner Perkins was a major backer of online bookstore, Amazon.com.
