NEWS Dresdner Bank has announced plans to deploy SAP's R/3 software across its worldwide operations. The German bank's headquarters already use the earlier version of the business application software, R/2. SAP claims the bank opted to upgrade to R/3 software because there is support for it in every country that Dresdner Bank has operations. A spokesman for SAP, said: "SAP can provide products specific to each bank in every country. That's why it was chosen." R/3 will be used to run the human resource and travel expenses management systems in every country. Additional applications will be taken on across different parts of Dresdner's bank and subsidiary networks according to needs. The installations will support all 40,000 of Dresdner Bank's global workforce. The roll out has already begun in the German and US operations. This will continue next in UK, followed by Luxembourg and then Australia. It will eventually spread to every region of the Bank's operations. Neither company would disclose the contract's value.
