In brief: Sun knew of Java changes says Microsoft

NEWS In pre-trial hearings in California yesterday, Microsoft testified that Sun Microsystems knew of, and agreed to, plans to make Java work better with Windows. Microsoft senior vice president Robert Muglia told the court that he informed Sun negotiators about Microsoft's customised Java designs in March 1996. Sun takes the stand today and will do all it can to block Java use in Windows 98 unless the language is 100 per cent pure.
