In brief: Netscape builds support for SAP R/3

NEWS Netscape Application Server (NAS) is to support for SAP R/3 databases using a software extension. SAP customers will be able to connect NAS to their legacy databases, boosting the capabilities of their Web servers, according to Netscape. Charles-Edouard Vincent, Netscape product manager, said: "NAS is fully scalable, so it doesn't crash when deluged by CGI scripts from the Internet. It offers a Web-based interface for client/server or online transactions." The Java-based SAP extension generates API's (application programming interfaces) that can be re-used for different applications. It supports a range of data sources, directories and user groups.
