SAP criticised for lack of functionality

NEWS SAP may be the leader of the ERP (enterprise resource planning) software market, but it is does not offer the best functionality, according to a report by research house Ovum. The report, Ovum Evaluates: ERP, claims SAP has "good, but not always the best, functionality for every market environment". Ovum claims SAP will only retain its lead in the business applications market until other lesser-known alternatives appear and take over. Meanwhile, the report predicts bright futures for Oracle and PeopleSoft, but Baan was criticised for "spreading its resources too thinly", and lacking product support.
