Gemplus and Mondex smarten up

NEWS Gemplus has been contracted by smartcard equipment maker Mondex International to manufacture and supply electronic cash cards which carry the Multos operating system. The contract comes as a major endorsement for the smartcard manufacturer in the growing market for card applications and systems. Smartcards primarily hold cash, but can also carry a number of separate applications including identity authentication, healthcare and travel facilities.
