Racom wins Hong Kong smartcard deal

NEWS Racom has won a $250,000 contract to supply smartcards and readers to the bus transport system in Macau, Hong Kong. Transmac - Macau's bus operator - chose Racom's technology for its speed and durability. Racom will revamp the service's fare collection processes, supplying a total of 100,000 cards and 100 card readers. The card infrastructure will be based on contactless technology, meaning card holders' fares will be deducted from remote readers located in the transport system which deduct fares while passengers are on the move. Racom claims each card is guaranteed to last much longer than alternative technologies.
