PeopleSoft beats rivals to £2m water contract

NEWS PeopleSoft has beaten off competition from two of its main rivals to win a contract with West of Scotland Water (WSW). The ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software vendor's £2m contract with the Scottish utility will integrate business processes using PeopleSoft Financials and Distribution software. The company will roll out a range of applications including general ledger, accounts receivable, procurement and inventory. Tony Davies, head of utilities business unit at PeopleSoft, said: "Like any other company, but specifically utilities, WSW was suffering from poor management of information. It had various applications that weren't integrated, so staff were always having to work around the problem manually." The need to be Year 2000 compliant and address conversion to EMU also played a big part in the integration of the business processes," said Davies. He added that the platform has given the company a much better chance to add on extra applications when needed. "It has given them enhanced performance monitoring so the company can see what they need to do and what is done badly. It also gives them flexibility."
