NEWS Organisations are slow to realise the benefits of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, according to the latest report from the Butler Group. Martin Butler, chairman of the Butler Group, claimed management of resources should have been addressed by organisations "long ago", and that "now is the time to do it". The research company cited that the millennium bug and the move to a single European currency as reasons for the burgeoning ERP marketplace. However, the report warns that "embarking on the installation of an ERP system is an enterprise in itself". Butler predicted vendors that take advantage of a componentised approach to developing ERP applications and Windows NT will end up being "major league players".
