US retailers join forces to create online shopping mall

NEWS Four US Internet retailers are creating a one-stop site for their products. CDnow, Cyberian Outpost, eToys and Reel.com are planning to launch the site in November. With the growth of ecommerce increasing competition between online retailers, the companies hope having all their products in one place will pull in more custom. But Nick Gill, retail development manager at Cap Gemini, disagreed. "Ecommerce will not go this way," he said, adding that schemes like this "are normally unsuccessful", because there is no added value for the customer.
