Microsoft aims at smartcard market with dedicated OS

NEWS Microsoft will announce details of its dedicated smartcard operating system (OS) this morning at Cartes 98, the annual smartcard industry gathering in Paris. The software giant claims the OS is the most advanced of its kind and will give smartcards secure user identification and enable them to run small programs. Microsoft is expected to announce a number of partnerships with smartcard developers in the near future. More details will appear on Silicon.com soon.
