NEWS The use of Internet email leaves 60 per cent of UK corporations open to prosecution, according to a report from The Research Group. The study, commissioned by security vendor, Peapod Group, surveyed email managers at 50 major UK corporations. It found that many companies are made vulnerable by their inability to stop staff sending offensive or libellous messages, or disclosing confidential company information. More than 80 per cent of email managers said they can not control information sent by employees via Internet email. Only 18 per cent said they are able to track email to its destination, while 38 per cent said they can monitor email content.
