NEWS Britons may be rushing to get online, but there has been no rapid acceptance of e-shopping this Christmas, according to research commissioned by BT Click+. The pay-as-you-go Internet access arm of BT has found that although more than 20 per cent of the UK population use the Internet, only one in ten have considered buying presents online. The results of the 1,000 household survey - carried out by NOP at the beginning of the month - fly in the face of recent reports that both business and consumer electronic commerce is starting to take off. The survey found men are more likely to shop online than women, but they are unlikely to spend more than £50. The most popular presents remain books, CDs and videos, but non-traditional online purchases mentioned by respondents include clothing and toys.
