Elf Oil gets connected with Sterling Commerce

NEWS Elf Oil UK has upgraded the systems management process in 70 of its 520 service stations using Sterling Commerce's Connect remote management product. The system will transfer stock and sales information back to Elf's headquarters on a daily basis. Sterling's Connect also enables the company to remotely back-up data and upgrade software on service station PCs. A spokesperson for Elf said the process needed to be able to manage operations using a minimum amount of manpower, as the company is currently suffering from a shortage of IT skills.
