NEWS The Chinese government has launched a Web site aimed at providing a portal for 15,000 local firms looking to set up an Internet and ecommerce presence. Set up in partnership with US Business Networks and part funded by magazine publishers, IDG, it aims to provide an online presence for Chinese firms, and cultural and legal advice to those wanting to do business in the country. US Business Networks has been given 'wholly-owned foreign enterprise' status by the Chinese government - which makes it favoured provider of ecommerce products to Chinese firms. It expects to capture 70 per cent market share in business-to-business ecommerce. China has 300,000 import-export companies and, according to US Business Networks, is worth $176bn in exports to China. For more information see http://www.meetchina.com
