NEWS An annual report into the OLAP (Online Analytical Data Processing) market has found that Oracle is no longer market leader. According to research house, Business Intelligence, the company has been toppled off its perch by Hyperion Solutions, which now has a 29 per cent share. Oracle's share dropped from 20.7 per cent to 17 per cent and Cognos takes third place with 9.6 per cent of the market. The report's lead author, Nigel Pendse, found the worldwide OLAP market grew over 45 per cent in 1998. He estimates the market has surpassed $2m and will be worth $4bn by 2001 - even if the recent growth spurt falters. Before 1998, the OLAP market had a steady annual growth rate of around 40 per cent.
