NEWS Hewlett-Packard (HP) has upgraded its HP3000 Unix servers to offer support for Apache, Java Database Controller technology (JDBC), and the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). The company claims the improvements will help users introduce Web commerce and publishing technologies more readily. Meanwhile, HP has also introduced a higher-specification machine to top its HP3000 range. The 989KS/x50 offers a 25 per cent performance improvement over existing 989KS/x00 products.
