Code-named Fremont, the technology is based on Java and the open-source model. The company is offering it up as an essential tool for businesses which are thinking about setting up their ecommerce applications. HP hopes to make Fremont an industry standard and will now concentrate on pushing it forward for widespread adoption. This also involves seeking approval and partnership from large IT vendors including Baan, Microsoft, SAP and GTE.
