Philips and Cadence extend deal

NEWS Philips Semiconductors has agreed to extend its partnership with Cadence Design Systems to supply electronic design automation (EDA) tools. The $35m deal means Cadence will continue as Philips' primary supplier of EDA tools until 2001. Among the new products featured in the deal is the Envista Ambit synthesis tool which enables high capacity chip level synthesis. Philips will continue to use Cadence design tools to supply integrated circuits for applications in consumer, telecoms, multimedia and automotive electronics.
