Lotus sets its sights on schools

NEWS Lotus CEO Jeff Papows told a Brussels press conference yesterday that he is aiming to increase his company's presence in the government and education sectors. The announcement follows a deal with the Russian Ministry of Education to supply Internet, intranet and distance learning systems to schools and universities across the country. The ministry bought 500,000 licenses of Notes and Lotus LearningSpace in a deal that will form the backbone of an IT-enabled education infrastructure in Russia. The company recently has won similar business in France and Latvia.
