NEWS Accountancy firm KPMG has unveiled its recently developed intranet at a meeting of chief knowledge officers from all its international head offices. Called Kworld, the chief functions of the system are messaging, collaboration and knowledge sharing. It is the first intranet of its kind to be built entirely from components based on Microsoft NT server technology. The system will be rolled out first in June across KPMG's four largest practices in Germany, the Netherlands, UK and the US. Spearheading the project is Michael Turillo, international chief knowledge officer, who claims Kworld will be the company's nervous system and is an indication of KPMG's ability to realise how vital good knowledge management is.
