Y2K fears reap rewards for groupware vendors

NEWS Microsoft Exchange led groupware growth in the US for the first quarter of 1999 with 1.9 million new users, according to a study out from IDC. Lotus Domino/Notes took second place with 1.4 million, and Novell GroupWise trailed with 1 million. IDC claims the sales level has been unusually high - driven by companies replacing Y2K non-compliant systems in the run-up to the millennium. The analyst firm expects that groupware vendors will continue to benefit from the millennium bug in the next quarter.
