US drugs suppliers give Y2K all-clear

NEWS Americans will not face any difficulties in obtaining prescription drugs come 1 January 2000, according to the US President's Council on Year 2000 Conversion. This week saw the representatives of the drug and healthcare industries join the Council to discuss the implications the date change could have on people. Although some glitches are expected, the Council concluded that the effects of stockpiling by the country's 50 million regular users of prescription drugs could cause more problems than the Y2K bug itself.
