BT offers Office 2000-based intranet service

NEWS BT has launched three managed intranet services based on Microsoft's Office 2000 software, which it claimed will reduce companies' IT costs and improve online knowledge sharing capabilities. Using the teamworking features in Office 2000, the services - called Team Web, Instant Intranet, and BT Intranet Server for Microsoft Office 2000 - are fully operated by BT from implementation to maintenance. They will be rented out to businesses of all sizes, offering reductions in upfront investment and technical resources, according to the UK telco. BT said it is aiming the services are at companies which are in geographically disparate locations, or which need to share information with suppliers and customers on a regular basis.
