NEWS Many European companies are feeling let down by their groupware systems, according to the latest report from IDC. Researchers found that although groupware use is growing by more than 20 per cent per year, many companies have found that deployment is costing more in time and money than expected. No best product can be recommended, IDC added, because each product serves the needs of a different group of customers. Researchers detailed the experiences of 14 companies - including Deutsche Bank, Saatchi & Saatchi, and the Metropolitan Police - and found that, Lotus was best for customisation, while Netscape came top for platform independence and low-cost administration. Other vendors studied include Microsoft, Novell and Teamware.
