Watchdog to hear Yorkshire Water Y2K plans

By Joey Gardiner, 21 June 1999 14:57

NEWS Ofwat has called a public meeting to hear an update from Yorkshire Water on the utility's Y2K compliance plans. John Tushingham, chairman of Ofwat's Yorkshire Customer Service Committee, said although the water companies got a "blue" rating in a June report - indicating an Action 2000 approved level of Y2K planning - there is still work to be done to ensure that any public disruption is avoided. The hearing follows last week's news that four million tonnes of untreated sewage was pumped on to the streets of Los Angeles following a failed real-time Y2K contingency test.
