Cable & Wireless to open South Wales call centre

NEWS Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) is creating 1,200 jobs in Swansea, Wales, with the opening of a £100m customer service call centre. The first service centre will be opened in October creating 400 jobs, with another 800 fulltime and part-time positions set to follow over the next 18 months. The UK call centre industry has been growing steadily in recent months. CWC's announcement follows telecoms and cable operator NTL's own launch of a call centre in Northern Ireland creating 400 jobs. The move will make CWC one of the biggest employers in the Swansea region.
