Oracle teams up with MatrixOne

NEWS Oracle has this week announced an alliance with MatrixOne, a specialist in product development management software, to support manufacturers getting into ebusiness. The software company plans to draw on the MatrixOne's technology to develop a Web-based knowledge management system specially designed for manufacturers, called Innovation Management. The system will be based on MatrixOne's information tool eMatrix, launched yesterday, which enables product developers, distributors and customers to communicate through a simple browser interface. According to Wayne Collier, president of engineering, manufacturing and design at US manufacturing consultancy DH Brown Associates, the alliance between MatrixOne and Oracle will help customers and manufacturers to streamline product development. eMatrix runs on Windows, NT and Unix platforms and can also draw on legacy systems, client/server and Web-based applications including enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, Lotus Notes, Oracle Manufacturing, Oracle Projects, SAP and JD Edwards.
