Use of intranet in UK grows by one third

NEWS Intranet usage in the UK has grown by almost a third in the last 12 months, according to a survey published yesterday by NOP and Barclays Corporate Banking. The report claims that 55 per cent of UK businesses with over 500 employees are connected to an intranet. While companies with between 200 and 499 staff have shown a big increase in intranet installations - up 28 per cent over the last year. Ninety-five per cent of respondents said an intranet would improve internal communications, while almost three-quarters believed it would reduce costs and save paper. NOP and Barclays Corporate Banking questioned 700 senior decision makers in UK companies between February and April this year.
