NEWS Emergency services in Cleveland, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire have been awarded £7.8m to develop a joint control centre to deal with 999 emergency calls. Speaking at Ambex, the UK Ambulance Services Association three-day conference, Health minister, Lady Hayman said the three centres will receive £2.6m each over the next three years to run the pilot sites. The joint control rooms will share facilities, communications technology and control room staff. Lady Hayman also announced a £500,000 allocation of funds to equip front-line vehicles with automatic external defibrillators.
