interBiz launches Web-based ERP service

By Suzanna Kerridge, 9 July 1999 16:32

NEWS interBiz Financial Group, Computer Associates' business application division, has launched a service enabling large organisations to download ERP (enterprise resource planning) applications from the Web. The interBureau will initially offer only Masterpiece/Net 1.2, the financial application, to banks and service providers. The move comes as a wave of online application hosting services hits the ERP market. Laura Hill, senior vice president for interBiz Financial Group claimed this initiative differed from those offered by rivals SAP and Oracle as the application is accessed directly through a Web browser. This means the interBiz's clients host the applications for their customers as opposed to hosting services whereby the service provider retains control of the product all the way down the supply chain.
