Informix keeps on rising

By Polly Raymond, 21 July 1999 05:00

NEWS Informix continued its steady revival by posting second quarter results showing a 19 per cent growth in earnings. The company's performance topped analyst predictions, showing a net profit of $17.5m compared with $11.5m a year ago. Revenue rose from $174.2m in 1998 to $206.8m. Robin Bloor, CEO of Bloor Research, said: "Informix has clearly settled back into its niche database markets. It's being nursed back to reasonable health, but it'll never be a serious growth company - that would take a miracle." The last quarter has seen the succession of Jean-Yves Dexmier as CEO and president of the company, after Bob Finnochio stepped down.
