Inprise readies Corba Linux for developers

NEWS Inprise is to launch a Corba version of Linux for developing backend software. The announcement follows the release of its survey into Linux developers, in which Inprise questioned over 24,000 Linux users and found that 72 per cent of those surveyed were interested in a rapid application development tool for Linux. The results also showed that 40 per cent of respondents want a Delphi platform based on Linux, as well as C and C++ tools. Jeremy McGee, European product marketing manager at Inprise, said: "We had a wake-up call that users are serious in the Linux community about building an infrastructure to it. There are a lot of C++ developers happily hacking at the command prompt while GUI developers are of a next generation and want tools they feel more comfortable with like Delphi."
