NEWS Online pharmacy Drugstore.com has lost its founder but gained a Gates. Jed Smith, founder and vice president of strategic partnerships, has left to start a new company, according to US reports. Bill Gates' wife - Melinda - has been appointed to the board of directors at Drugstore.com. Smith is keeping his shares in the company. The company went public in July 1999. Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, is one of the board members and investors.
