NEWS Catalogue giant Argos is wiping egg from its online face after accidentally offering Sony 21 inch TVs for sale at just £3 each on its website. The offer was unsurprisingly snapped up by many happy surfers. However, after consulting with its lawyers the company is not honouring the offer. In a statement Argos said: "The pricing of the TV sets at £3 was clearly a mistake, caused by a computer software error." Argos' main software supplier is Lawson Software, which was not available for comment. As far as the legal position, Argos insisted that "we are advised by our lawyers that this is in accordance with our legal obligations and that it is normal practice where an error of this kind has been made."
