Sauer Sundstrand trades Unix system for Windows NT

NEWS IT Services (ITS) has supplied hydraulic pump manufacturer, Sauer Sundstrand, with a data network and a year's support, in a deal worth £350,000. The Swindon-based factory is replacing its existing standalone PCs and Unix systems because they do not fall in line with the manufacturer's requirements. The new system of 130 computers will have access to office applications running a Gigabit Ethernet solution based on 3Com equipment. The system will have a 1GB backbone providing 100Mbps to the desktop, all on Windows NT. Bringing Sauer Sundstand into line with its other sites in Europe, users will be given the use of email plus access to the Web.
