NEWS Travel agent Thomas Cook has been awarded the prize for best call centre in Europe. The award was announced at the call centre '99 exposition in Birmingham, this week. Thomas Cook gained its accolade for providing best practice in customer handling, telephone sales and support services, from its pan-global call centre in Peterborough. Organisers say it will now become the industry benchmark for Europe. Other winners in the awards include home shopping giant Freemans in Sheffield for best design, and JD Edwards in Stokenchurch for best use of technology.
