OO programmers are hot property

NEWS Object-oriented (OO) languages are the most sought-after programming skills in the UK and Europe. Bloor Research analysed over 33,000 job advertisements posted on the Internet, and found that more than 50 per cent of the jobs advertised asked for object-oriented skills, with C++ and Java the most popular OO languages. The most desired languages are C++ (38 per cent of the ads); Visual Basic (30 per cent); and Java (28 per cent). Java has risen quickly, up from 18 per cent in February. HTML and Perl also were high on the list. Bloor estimates that within the next few months, the rise of Internet technologies will see Java knocking Visual Basic out of second place.
