NEWS NCR is to cut 1,500 jobs as it moves out of the hardware business and into the software market. The company said it hopes to save $75m each year following the reductions, and explained the move is designed to help it reach its goal of becoming one of the top three competitors in automated teller machines, retail store automation software and data warehousing. Restructuring charges of up to $250m will be taken into account in the fourth quarter financial results, with costs covering employee reduction, facility consolidation and satisfaction of customer obligations.
