Independent Energy acquires York Gas

NEWS UK gas and electricity company, Independent Energy, has acquired York Gas for an undisclosed amount. The company claims it is now the largest independent provider of both gas and electricity in the UK, with nearly 250,000 customers, including Boots, Vodafone and Radio Rentals. In a prepared statement, John Sulley, chief executive of Independent Energy said that over the last three years his company had established itself as a successful niche energy supplier to businesses. The company plans to expand into Europe in the near future, starting with Spain.
