NEWS The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is to launch an investigation into working practices at call centres. The research will be divided into two phases. The first phase will question workers on health issues such as stress, noise levels and musculo-skeletal disorders the second will focus on call handlers, team leaders and various levels of management, who will be quizzed on their daily work routine. An estimated one to 1.7 per cent of the UK workforce is employed in call centres - more than in the coal mining, steel and vehicle production industry, according to the HSE's latest figures.
